We will help your child explore rhythm and sound by providing them with the opportunity to play a variety of instruments including: xylophones, pianos, ukuleles and numerous rhythm instruments. Beginning listening skills are developed as the children will recognize each instrument and the sounds they create through the repetition of games and songs. The attending parent will play an active role in the class, by helping their child explore the instruments and the sounds they create. This is all taught in a positive, cheerful and encouraging environment.
The children and parents will sing along with Miss Helen and Miss Trish as they play guitar, autoharp and ukulele. Your child will enjoy singing folk songs, nursery rhymes and traditional songs as they learn to recognize changes in pitch, dynamics and tempo. Many subjects are learned through songs including; numbers, months of the year, colors, shapes, the five senses and the alphabet. Watch their language skills grow as we help to nurture their speaking and singing voices.
While feeling the rhythm of the music and being creative using scarves, balls, hula hoops and puppets, your child will dance and move freely to classical and popular music. The children will begin to recognize music by the great composers; Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Franz Joseph Haydn and many more.
This class meets once a week for thirty minutes. (Open Enrollment)
"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart."
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki
