The children will learn to play songs on xylophones and recorders. They will sing a variety of songs from the Suzuki repertoire as well as traditional folk songs. Each child is allowed to progress at their own pace. The children have the opportunity to perform for their peers in a supportive and relaxed environment. Preliminary music theory games are introduced and beginning steps on piano, violin and guitar are a part of this fun filled music class.
The positive effect of these activities includes: an increased vocabulary, socially acceptable behavior and sensitive group participation at an early age. One of the most important skills for children to acquire at an early age is the ability to listen carefully. Using xylophones and recorders, the children learn to imitate the sounds they hear. With the teacher’s help, they learn to play the songs, listening for, and striving to imitate that beautiful ringing tone.
Teachers note that children, who have attended our Baby Classes and Pre-School Early Childhood Music Education classes for at least one year, have firmly established listening habits. This helps to facilitate a smooth transition to instrumental study, if the family decides to continue with an instrument.
"For thirty years now, I have been pleading with people to believe that all children can be well educated, and not to turn away those who drop behind in learning. All children skillfully reared reach a high education level but such rearing must start from the day of birth. Here, to my mind, lies the key to the fuller development of man’s potentials and abilities." Shinichi Suzuki
